Visited Fonseca’s Beach Resort for a short break, and it offers a decent, no-nonsense beachside experience.
The biggest plus is the location. Being right next to the beach gives it a relaxed, open vibe, especially in the evenings. The outdoor seating and sea breeze make it a good spot to unwind with family or friends.
Rooms are basic and functional. They are suitable for a short stay, though not premium. Cleanliness is acceptable, but maintenance could be tighter in a few areas.
The food is decent if you’re visiting with family. It’s better to avoid the buffet package, as the spread is very basic and the taste is average. However, if you enjoy Chinese cuisine, that’s a safer choice, as the Chinese dishes are comparatively better in taste and consistency. Since I’m a vegetarian, I can’t comment on the seafood or non-vegetarian options this feedback is based purely on the vegetarian food experience.
Service is polite and cooperative. Response time can slow down during weekends or peak hours, but overall staff is helpful.
Overall: Fonseca’s Beach Resort is best seen as a value-for-money, casual beach getaway. Go for the location and relaxed atmosphere, keep expectations realistic on luxury, and it delivers a satisfactory experience.
Lots of rules here. Less enjoyment. Food was ok not bad. They charge for everything. Did not provide refrigeration for hard drinks.

This is a beach front resort. The entire strip on the beach has resorts and hotels..
Check in is 10 am and check out is 9 am.
This is a very interesting property on Gorai Beach. Rooms are average. Bathrooms are average but clean. The property is very colourful with small cottages as well. Breakfast is available but when I stayed there it was not set up until 10 am. Staff is very friendly. Also there is no generator back up.
Avoid This Place: A Total Nightmare!
I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel it’s my duty to warn anyone considering this resort. Our stay was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Save your money and your sanity—go literally anywhere else.
🤢 The Food: Inedible and Repetitive
The kitchen situation is a joke. We quickly realized that all the dishes taste exactly the same. There is zero variety or culinary skill involved here.
Safety Issues: The chicken we were served was dangerously undercooked. When we sent it back, it didn't get much better.
Total Incompetence: We ordered a Chicken Dry Fry, but what arrived was a bowl of chicken swimming in gravy.
The "Secret" Sauce: It became glaringly obvious that they use the exact same gravy base for every single chicken dish on the menu. Whether it’s supposed to be spicy, savory, or dry, you’re getting the same bland sludge.
💸 Terrible Value for Money
The pricing here is an absolute rip-off. The rates are sky-high, yet the service and food quality are basement-level. We checked out a few competitors nearby, and they offer significantly better deals, professional service, and—most importantly—edible food for a fraction of the price.
🚩 Management & Refund Policy
The management is incredibly unprofessional. They were extremely casual (borderline dismissive) when it came to explaining their terms and conditions. When we expressed our dissatisfaction and asked to leave early, they flat-out denied a refund.
Because they refused to return our money, we felt forced to stay just so we didn't lose thousands of rupees, despite the miserable service and poor facilities. It felt more like a hostage situation than a vacation.
Bottom Line: Don't be fooled by the photos. The management is lazy, the food is a health hazard, and they will trap you with their "no refund" policy the moment you realize how bad it is. Stay away!
