Visited Friday 17th April, large party. Had the tasting menu. Thoroughly enjoyed. The prawn course (matunga se?), the lobster course and the lamb course were phenomenal. Oh, not to mention the millet kheer and Kulfi dessert. Compliments to the chef! Loved it!
We recently dined at Ziya and unfortunately our experience with the food did not meet expectations.
To begin with the positives, the service was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. They made us feel very welcome and ensured that everything from seating to pacing of the meal was handled smoothly. I also want to appreciate their thoughtful gesture of bringing a cake to celebrate my wife’s birthday 🎂. That was a very nice touch and made the occasion special. The ambiance was excellent, and the seaside view was an added highlight that made the experience more enjoyable.
However, the food itself was disappointing, especially considering the reputation of the restaurant , concept of Chef Bhatia and the price point. We opted for the tasting menu, priced at ₹9,500 per person plus taxes, and unfortunately most of the dishes lacked the flavor,, and excitement one would expect from a fine-dining tasting experience.
Having tried tasting menus in many countries, I have to say this was one of the least memorable experiences we’ve had. Except for a couple of dishes, the majority of the courses felt average and did not create any real excitement or “wow” moment.
At this price level, guests expect exceptional taste, originality, and a clear culinary identity. Sadly, the menu did not deliver that.
I genuinely hope Ziya steps up the flavor profiles and brings more uniqueness and creativity to their tasting menu, because the service team and the beautiful setting deserve food that matches the same standard.
Food was good. I really liked the lamb chop dish and dessert. Service was great with nice wine recommendations! Fairly expensive for what you get however.
Ziya at The Oberoi, Mumbai, India. Au upscale Indian cuisine by Michelin-starred Chef Vineet Bhatia. The seating and ambiance is formal. Service was very good. Food has an innovative approach to classic Indian dishes. Some were successful like the samosa chat while some were not especially the biryani and the raan.

Had a 5 star experience at Ziya!
Ambience: very calm, tranquil ambience. The window offers a beautiful view of the sea and the queens necklace. The atmosphere is very pleasant.
Food : superb food in all aspects whether it's modern - fusion food or good ol classic butter chicken! Would recommend the pumpkin barley soup, the smoked dal makhani, butter chicken, and palak samosa.
Service: best in class service. Ms. Maria was very helpful from the beginning in prompt response to the booking and helping us out with the set menu options.
Mr. Siddharth and Ms. Chari were top notch in their service. Paying attention to all our needs they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted.
Value for money: The portion size is relatively smaller compared to the pricing, but the main course is quite sufficient. The overall experience was definitely worth paying for.
Pro tips :
1. go at sharp 7.00 pm when the restaurant opens if you want the best table with the view as these are limited.
2. We had a party of 5, so opted for the set menu option which allows you to plan in advance exactly what the pricing is going to be like. They have 3 different types of set menus along with Al carte.
3. Definitely recommend booking a table in advance.
Thank you Ziya for such a wonderful dining experience.
