Came to know about this tour company from locals (word of mouth), mostly from Marathi spraking senior citizens. Explored with them available tours, decided to give it a try on Saputara 3 day tour (even through price/cost quote seemed very high at that time), mostly for pleasure of my elderly mother. It turned out to be hit and miss. Some things worked well, some didn't -
A) What worked well -
Many things/aspects -
1) planning,
2) their experience in travel industry,
3) payment,
4) communication from them during planning and actual trip,
5) mostly good food/meals throughout 3 days
6) decent good logistics and instructions,
7) reasonably good accommodation,
8) comfortable bus,
9) variety content during tour (places, activities),
10) mostly good care of senior citizen needs,
11) family/homely atmosphere throughout
12) Photo/Video capture and sharing
13) Going extra mile for satisfying some specific non standard needs of certain tourists (elderly/handicapped tourists).
I sincerely appreciate whatever tour owners did for all above.
B) What didn't work well (for us) -
1) Rude behavior by tour owners - 2 times they claimed and told us something that was absolutely contradicting with 10s of unbiased unrelated people (taxi drivers, market vendors, other tourists) told us and many our fellow tourists in our tour. In important aspects of tour from comfort and content perspective. Especially for physically challenged senior citizens. Had the tour owners accepted their fault honestly and politely, maybe we'd have excused them (yes, things happen, not everthing goes well, not everyone is perfect, understandable) but instead, the tour owners arrogantly kept insisting that they were right and what they did was correct and the son of owner was EXTRELEY ANGRY AND RUDE and STARTED ARGUMENT with me, YELLED at me, and accused me of spreading false information in the group when in reality i was merely communicating whatever reasons tour owners gave me in those 2 specific matters. i was not bad mouthing them or accusing them of any wrongdoing. How they behaved was absolutely unacceptable. Whatever misunderstanding they had, they could have discussed with me respectfully, worse, we'd have agreed to disagree and move on. But instead, the son (Sachin) created a big scene there. Such a shameful and unwarranted behavior. I hope they realize their mistake and avoid behaving such in future.
At the end of trip they were polite, we both had let go of that bad memory temporarily. But that bad incident on last day morning ruined the whole experience for me honestly (left a big scar and long lasting bad taste in mind). i wish it didn't happen.
2) Price - In hindsight, considering content and service, the price we paid (cost of the tour) was EXORBITANTLY HIGH. During plannig, Google search AI indicated tour operators charging price range INR 5k to 15K per person but that varied as per content and service. I took a chance and gave them benefit of doubt for high cost when i decided to go with this tour, but in hindsight i don't feel it was worth.
In spite of unreasonable price, I'd have tolerated it and HAD the tour owners accepted their fault OR even if they had a respectfully discussed with me about the 2 issues where they felt they had disagreement, I'd have been okay and given them 4 stars, but since they didn't, i have to cut rating by 1 star for each point above (what didn't work well).
As usual, i have tried to be 110% honest and fair in my review above, everything i have said above is based on my expectations and experience and priorities. I am sure other tourists and even tour owners might have difference of opinion and that's fine.
I had been to elegant waterfront resort at bhama askhed with gulmohar travels . The choice of the resort location is more than perfect , such a serene picturesque lake view ! Accomodation ,transportation, and food given were all very good . Gulmohar travels had specially arranged a kojagiri special night music programme for us ,the singers Ms. Chaitrali Borde and Mr.Harish Kalyanpur outperformed . Overall it was a nice experience .
A day with the Flamingos was our first trip with Gulmohar travels. It was a well organized and meticulously planned outing to enable best sightings. Sachin Joshi was quite knowledgeable and shared many tidbits on the Flamingos and other birds. Watching multitudes of pink beauties was an experience in itself. The atmosphere was lively and a fun experience overall.
