This was honestly one of the worst-managed exams I’ve ever attended. The management is terrible, and the maintenance of the place is pathetic. You can clearly hear outside noise inside the exam hall, which makes it impossible to focus. The two small rooms used for exams are right next to each other, and audio easily travels between them completely unfit for an exam environment.

There’s no proper timer inside the exam room either. The whole setup looks totally unprofessional for an institute like Goethe.

According to the schedule, the exam was supposed to start at 1:00 PM, and the listening section should have started at 1:30 PM and should ended at 2:00 PM. But instead, they made us to start the writing part at 1:52 PM, which is supposed to start only at 2:00 PM. The invigilator started to give the papers at 1:00 PM itself...how pathetic! (most of the other centres like chennai and Bengaluru they will give the exam paper 2 -5 mins earlier before the commencement of exam and they make sure you open the exam paper at right scheduled time)which makes no sense and they collected our answer sheets at 2:22 PM. Everything felt rushed, unorganized, and unfair.

In Chennai and Bengaluru Goethe centres, everything runs smoothly and on time they follow proper exam structure and timing. I have no idea what’s wrong with Mumbai Goethe, but this centre is not at all suitable for exams.

Final advice: not even worthy of rating of 1 star ,Don’t waste your time or money here. I strongly recommend avoiding the Mumbai Goethe-Institut for exams.

My wife, a Project Manager with 16 years of experience in Learning & Development at a multinational company, was treated in a highly unprofessional manner during her exam. There was no visible timekeeping ( clock), poor infrastructure, and a complete lack of basic courtesy and professionalism from the examiner.

When my wife calmly expressed some concerns, the examiner reacted defensively and threatened to report her to the head office instead of addressing the issue. This was her Lessen b1 exam, and the intimidation deeply affected her.

When I went to pick her up after the exam, she broke down and cried because of how she was treated and threatened. This was particularly shocking because she had cleared her other exams at the Pune branch very smoothly, where the conduct was professional and respectful.

Based on this experience, I would strongly advise candidates to avoid choosing the Mumbai exam centre unless there is no other option. If you do choose it, please be aware of this behaviour. The institution should take immediate action against such examiners to ensure a professional and safe environment for candidates.

The Mumbai Goethe-Institut exam experience was extremely disappointing. The management is chaotic, the facilities poorly maintained, and outside noise makes it impossible to focus. The exam rooms are tiny and right next to each other, so sound travels easily not fit for exams.

Timing was a mess: papers were handed out early, the writing section started late, and everything felt rushed and unorganized. No proper timers were provided either.

In comparison, Chennai and Bengaluru centres run exams smoothly and professionally. I strongly advise avoiding the Mumbai Goethe-Institut for exams.

Goethe Institut Mumbai is a pathetic institute.
Teachers are not up to the mark as well, they do not entertain us asking doubts or questions.
Whatever we ask they keep repeating like a tape record that you will learn this in the next course.
Teachers speak German as if they are singing a song, it is nowhere near the hochdeutsch.

After attending 4 month course and spending our hard earned money - students are good for nothing. They cannot even speak or write a simple line in German.

If we ask any doubt: they will ask us “NOT TO TRANSLATE” and teaches us in sign language, this is the most ridiculous thing I have seen. After we encounter difficult words / sentences/ grammar students are left to wonder with their imagination rather than translating it or giving analogy in english or native language.

India is a country where a new language is spoken after every 1 kilometer. Imagine if the people in India themselves followed these foolish teaching techniques to learn other Indian languages- where will we reach??

There is a teacher who shows expressions and actions (for explaining deutsch) and shamelessly asks students- did you understand??

It is a blatant loot and fooling people. Poor college students think this is how we should study german.

There has to be atleast 1 German native speaker for a batch and not these 2nd hand experienced teachers who fill their pockets by fooling people.

Even when we are giving feedback via the app- the teacher stays inside the classroom and they know exactly who gives what. The key reason why students are skeptical to complain.

After studying here in the Mumbai branch for 4 months I started hating the language and when I discovered some other native speaking teachers on youtube and instagram: my faith in german was restored.

Please don’t fall for the equation: Goethe Institut is the legitimate source of German; No it is a mockery of german language that they make.

I hope their president Carola takes note of this and fires these unworthy teachers.

The teachers are good for nothing and this is kind of their backup job after being unsuccessful in whatever they were pursuing in their life and we the poor students fall prey to such underskilled teachers.

One office staff Guy sits outside the classrooms and begs for money if we don’t show our I card for a lecture. And what does that prove? Collecting fine legalizes your enrollment then why pay the fee?

Last but not the least:
The classroom size : this is the biggest joke. Even a public transport bus is having enough room to seat people. The classroom size and shape is like a public toilet where students sit knee to knee. Hardly fitting our books / study materials etc on the table. It is next to impossible to sit and join a study room like the one they maintain.

Goethe Institut like any other product of Germany was and is always a standard of perfection; please maintain it and fire these unworthy teachers from your org who are aimed to fill their pockets and doom the organization.
