I had severe chest pain and I was taken by ambulance to holy spirit hospital. They diagnosed me having a heart attack basis of a blood test. Something came to my mind and I got shifted by ambulance to Brahma Kumari hospital and got admitted under Dr Mahesh Shah. I was mentally prepared for urgent angiography and if needed angioplasty.
On Sunday morning also Dr Mahesh Shah came and visited me at Brahma Kumari hospital, he took my history in detail and examined me thoroughly and then he gave me an opinion that there is no heart attack and angiography angioplasty are not required. I was surprised that in today's Era a doctor would not do an angioplasty even when the patient is already financially and mentally prepared for the same.
Today I visited his clinic to do my echocardiography stress test and to evaluate my future risk of heart attack ,and to reduce that future risk of heart attacks.
I have read the review of Mr Ivan Stanley, @ivsnstanley, and I am surprised at the connotations and allegations ,whatever you call it, on Dr Mahesh Shah and his methods of working.
What surprises me is that a doctor's clinic which has advanced equipments worth crores of rupees, there is absolutly no reason that he would keep a defective blood pressure machine costing just a few thousand bucks.
I also discuss with Dr Shah about the implications of white coat hypertension. To my surprise he told me that white coat hypertension is something which is very common which is mild and doesn't even need blood pressure treatment and forget about recommending angioplasty bases white coat hypertension. A simple Google search on white coat hypertension would have cleared the doubts of anyone and everyone who doubts the integrity of Dr Mahesh Shah.
I had been taking my father to dr shah for almoat 8 years. I list him lost covid as y father had stopoed all medicine. We as a family were so happy with dr shahs simple and detailed evaluatiin ethids and all the exotic macines and facility at his clinic that i brought my mothe under hus care 3 years back and today brought my husband to him. We have great faith in his knowledge skill and integrity.
My mother had white ciat hypertension and hence we used to measure her bo at home and come.
We were counselled by dr mahesh that white coat hyoertension is a benign condition and does not need treament. Obviously no doctor would ever force patient to undergo angioplasty or stent for whire coat hyortension.
My father is managed by de shah from 2011. Despite having chest pain he avoided angiography and angioplasty for 13 years. His advanced innveyigatuons and treatment identifies factors which can cause problems in future and he takes extra efforts to prevent them. Of course that needs investigations and treatment which may cost. But an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Just now I got a shingles vaccine costing 11000. It is approved for prevention of herpes but also found to reduce chances of heart attacks strokes and dementia.
So in short he does not just focus on the symptoms u have but tries to preent future major complication or disease.
And yes my bp is same weather I measure at home or it is measured at his clinic. I do not have white coat hypertension.
I have been doctor Mahesh Shah patient since 2006. He had done angioplasty with one stand on me then. I have been regularly following with him ever since every few months. Every time my blood pressure in the clinic is 150 around systolic while at my home when I check with my own BP machine it is 110.
I have been explained by Dr Mahesh that this is white court hypertension which is very very common. In fact among the older people won in 3 or almost 33% of people have White hypertension. As per him this is an established medical diagnosis. And I have not been advised any increase in medication or extra test based on my a white coat hypertension. I am happy that Dr Mahesh has taken time and explained me about White court hypertension.
This is my third visit to Dr shahs clinic. I had unstable Anjana when I was working on the ship and I was referred to him at BSES hospital where my angiography and angioplasty was done very implanting one stent.
I found Dr Mahesh very approachable. He is very compassionate, takes care of all my questions and concerns. He answers everything very patiently and in detail.
More importantly I needed to go back to the ship for doing heavy work. My stress test was done today where I could walk more than 9 minutes at very fast speed and my heart could take that load with ease.
I will now be able to join my ship duty within a few months of my angioplasty with stenting.
