I visited Dr. Hemant for blurred vision and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.

Upon arrival, the assistant conducted a standard vision test and informed me that my vision was perfect as I was able to read even the smallest letters. A pressure test was also performed, and I was told that the results were normal.

After this, I was repeatedly asked whether anyone in my family had glaucoma. I clearly stated that no one in my family has a history of glaucoma. Despite being told that my initial tests appeared normal, I was advised to undergo additional tests costing approximately ₹2,400 each. After those tests, I was again informed that the reports looked normal, yet I was asked to undergo two more tests costing another ₹2,400 each because the doctor "wanted more clarity." At this stage, my bill had already reached around ₹11,600.

I requested to meet the doctor before proceeding further and was eventually allowed to do so. During the consultation, I felt that my concerns regarding blurred vision were not adequately addressed. When I repeatedly asked what was causing my symptoms, I was mostly told that I was anxious and overthinking. I was reassured that I would not go blind, but I did not receive a clear explanation of my diagnosis.

What confused me further was that I was prescribed Thyronorm 25 mcg despite informing the doctor that I do not have a thyroid condition. My thyroid reports were normal, yet I was advised to take the medication for two days without a clear explanation of why it was necessary.

I was then told to return after two days for pupil dilation and further examination, along with an additional consultation charge. I questioned why this could not be done during the same visit, especially after already undergoing multiple expensive tests, but no satisfactory explanation was provided.

The post-consultation experience was equally frustrating. The prescription did not mention when to take the prescribed medication, and I was advised to WhatsApp the doctor for clarification. Despite following up multiple times, I did not receive a timely response. I also requested copies of my reports but was told that the printer was not working. However, I observed other documents being printed during my visit. More than five days later, I still had not received all my reports as promised.

Another concern was the pricing of the tests. After my visit, I checked with other centres and found that similar tests are often charged between ₹900 and ₹1,200. This left me questioning why I was charged significantly higher amounts without a clear explanation.

I fully understand that specialist consultations and advanced diagnostics can be expensive when medically justified. However, as a patient, I felt pressured into undergoing multiple tests before receiving a proper explanation of my condition. The lack of transparency, poor communication, difficulty obtaining reports, and inadequate follow-up made this a very disappointing experience.

I hope this feedback encourages greater transparency, clearer communication with patients, and better post-consultation support in the future.

I visited Nayanshakti Vision Eye Hospital (an ASG Enterprise) at Juhu with my mother to seek a second opinion regarding her ongoing eye treatment, largely because of the hospital's strong reputation.

Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Himanshu Mehta was disappointing. During the consultation, he greeted my mother by patting/touching her and asking how she was feeling. While this may have been intended as a friendly gesture, it made us uncomfortable and appeared unprofessional from our perspective.

Further, the consultation was primarily regarding her left eye, and we had already carried a recent OCT report for that eye. However, we were informed that if we wanted his opinion, we would need to follow his instructions and undergo fresh OCT scans for both eyes. We felt that the necessity for additional testing was not adequately explained, which created an impression that unnecessary investigations were being recommended.

A second-opinion consultation should ideally involve a clear review of existing reports, transparent communication regarding the need for any additional tests, and respect for the patient's concerns. Unfortunately, we did not leave with that experience.

Based on our interaction, we were dissatisfied with the consultation and expected a more patient-centric and professional approach.

I wish to share my experience with Dr.Himanshu Mehta.

Recently, on my first Consultation with him, the best part is, he listens to me very calmly and patiently by giving sufficient time to me to express my concern/views about cataract surgery. Dr. makes me understand what is cataract and why it is necessary to remove at an appropriate time and what are the pros and cons of it etc. etc.
Further, he explained to me about cataract surgery in such a manner that I was out of psychological fear, of course, after all it is a matter of eyes, and all are concerned about it as it is a very very crucial and delicate part of our body.
As advised, I have undergone robotic surgery and I found this is the best way to get it to be operated for the cataract problem because it is the minimally invasive surgery. I am so happy as Dr. Himanshu has done an excellent surgery and smoothly removed the cataract and implanted the IOL without any discomfort and unbelievably clear and sharp vision after that. He has such precise operating skills, I must appreciate and be thankful for smooth and painless cataract surgery.
I strongly recommend Dr. Himanshu Mehta for any eye related problems, at least for cataract with my experience, because I believe he is one of the best surgeons in mumbai with state of art equipment in his clinic.
In his clinic, Vission Eye Centre all his subordinate staff, assistant doctors and technicians are very knowledgeable, cooperative, humble and helpful in explaining all my queries in the most polite manner.
I am thankful and grateful to Dr. Himanshu Mehta for giving me a clear vision for the rest of my life.
I also would like to thank his subordinates for always giving me guidance and support.
