What an absolute scam! Fake reviews everywhere. I had given a 5TB hard disk for recovery which they kept for 3 months and then ruined it and gave it back saying sorry cannot recover the data.
I gave my drive for data recovery at TechChef.
They signed an NDA at the beginning, which gave me confidence. Customer care was helpful and polite throughout, and eventually I did get my data back. The interactions were smooth and professional.
However, there were areas of concern. The initial quote was higher, and only after some negotiations was it reduced to a more reasonable fee for the job. The recovery, which could have been completed in 4–5 days, stretched to more than 10 days. The first recovery attempt was not accurate, and I had to request a second recovery, which then gave me the results I needed.
In the end, I got my data recovered, so the main objective was achieved. The service is good, but if they can adhere more closely to timelines and provide pricing aligned with the market from the start, the overall experience would be excellent. Overall, I was satisfied with the process.
They did an excellent job recovering my data. The team was professional, responsive, and clear in communication from start to finish. They completed the work quickly, handled everything with care, and returned my files in perfect condition.
