I am sharing my full experience with Swarex Logistics so that others can make an informed decision before engaging their services.
I had an international parcel (approx. value ₹11,000) sent from Belgium via bpost and handled in India by India Post. The parcel remained stuck in customs for more than 20 days, and we were not contacted at all by customs or India Post regarding any required documentation or process. Due to this lack of communication, we independently reached out to Swarex, who present themselves as customs clearing agents.
After contacting them, we were assigned a representative named Vikas.
From the beginning, the process lacked transparency. We were repeatedly asked to make payments without any clear breakdown or official documentation. In total, we paid ₹13,635 to Swarex for “custom clearance,” but we were not provided with any official receipt from Indian customs.
Despite these payments, when the parcel was finally delivered by India Post, we were asked to pay an additional ₹4,000 as customs duty at the doorstep, with an official slip. This raises serious concerns about what the earlier amount paid to Swarex was actually used for.
IN THE END WHILE RECEIVING THE PACKAGE, we were told by the representative that certain payments had been made “under the table” to facilitate the clearance process, which was given as a reason for not being able to provide proper receipts. This was extremely concerning to us, as such practices are not legal or acceptable, and we had never requested any such handling of our shipment.
Communication throughout the process was extremely poor:
- Updates were only given when we repeatedly followed up
- No tracking ID was ever shared with us
- We were repeatedly told “it will arrive today” or “tomorrow” over nearly two weeks, which turned out to be inaccurate
Because we were not given any tracking information, we had to take leave from work on multiple days to ensure we did not miss the delivery, fearing that the parcel might be lost otherwise.
We were also given conflicting information about the parcel’s location. At one point, we were told it had reached Pune and would be delivered shortly, while later we were informed by another person at swarex, Mr. Ranganath, that it was still in Mumbai.
We were also told that the parcel would be delivered via Blue Dart instead of India Post, which added further confusion. Additionally, we were told that “scanning charges” had been paid, but no receipt was ever provided. When we requested proof, we were told we could retrieve it using a tracking ID, which was never shared with us.
When we requested official documentation, clarification, or proof of payments made to customs authorities, we did not receive satisfactory responses. Communication has now stopped entirely.
Overall concerns:
- No transparency in pricing or process
- No official customs receipts for significant payments
- Additional duty charged again at delivery
- Repeated inaccurate or conflicting updates
- No tracking information provided
- Pressure to make payments without clarity
Due to the lack of transparency, absence of valid documentation, and non-responsiveness, we are once again requesting a refund of the scanning charges and customs clearance fees (paid twice). If this is not addressed promptly, we will proceed with formal legal action and file a complaint with the appropriate authorities.
We did eventually receive the parcel, but at a very high financial and emotional cost.
We regularly import shipments through FedEx and DHL, and timely clearance is very important for our business. Mr. Vikas Kalhan from Swarex Logistics has been handling our import shipments, and the experience has been excellent. He manages everything very smoothly and always ensures timely service.
