Disappointed with Shah Trade Mumbai – Unreliable After-Sales Support
We recently purchased four Caterpillar pistons from Shah Trade Mumbai, which were sold to us as new surplus parts. Upon receiving and inspecting the shipment, we discovered that one of the pistons was rusted and clearly not usable.
We reached out to the vendor in a professional and courteous manner, requesting a return for just the defective item, not the entire set. The response was both disappointing and unacceptable. He flatly refused the return, claiming that he had "checked with some experts" who found no issue with the material.
This raises a very valid question: how can any expert evaluate a critical engine part without physically inspecting it? Is a photo now enough to produce a professional assessment? If so, we would appreciate seeing the inspection report that was supposedly generated based on an image.
What’s even more frustrating is that this is not our first purchase from Shah Trade Mumbai. Given our history of doing business with him, we expected a much more responsible and customer-focused response. Prior business relationships should count for something especially when the request is reasonable and justified.
He also needs to recognize that these are engine-critical components, and supplying defective parts can lead to severe equipment damage and costly downtime. Selling such parts just for profit, without any accountability, shows a complete lack of professionalism.
To anyone considering working with Shah Trade Mumbai: proceed with extreme caution. While things may go smoothly when the parts are fine, the moment something goes wrong, you’re on your own. The after-sales support is practically nonexistent, and prior business means nothing once the money is paid.

Just as a reply to your comment, why don’t you write the complete story that you did not agree to pay any kind of freight for the faulty part nor the replacement in which our cost would have almost doubled due to extra freight and customs duties.
Since you supplied the damaged part (with lots of wrong argument for it to be correct), you should be responsible to replace it with all associated cost as it was not our fault that you supplied for low quality part.
