I recently visited Dr. Arora's data recovery service center regarding a corrupted CCTV camera DVR hard drive. Dr. Arora provided a detailed and clear explanation of the possible causes behind the corruption, helping us understand the issue in-depth. His professionalism and knowledge were impressive. My drive (WD elements, 5tb) was humming, the light was blinking, on connecting with the Laptop, it gave the connecting sound as well, but no drive was visible on the system.
I showed my drive to Stellar Company, they did say initially they won't open it, and would only move forward post my go. They checked the drive and said that it would be needed to sent ahead, as the Mumbai based centre is not apt for the problem. I called back my drive, and after some months went to Hard disk Data Recovery Factory, where I came to know that the drive was hampered by Stellar, (they opened it), and the problem which initially was small, became large scale.
So, the data recovery factory (Father and Son duo), did a non-invasive inspection in front of me and clearly explained the issues with the drive. According to their diagnosis, the drive has a mechanical problem where the heads are stuck to the platters, likely due to physical shock, and the original PCB has also failed.
They tested the drive using a working board with my ROM and showed that the drive attempts to spin but cannot, confirming the head-platter issue. They also explained that because the original PCB contains encryption keys, even a head transplant alone would not guarantee data recovery.
They did not push for unnecessary recovery work, explained the risks honestly, and returned the drive the same day. Overall, the diagnosis was transparent and professional.
The data is difficult and not guaranteed to be recovered, which is the conclusion, but I would really really like to thank you guys for checking the drive, the inspection was cost-free, and to share knowledge of technicals and how to use a drive efficiently. Sad for the lost data, but happy to give you the drive and gain this knowledge. Highly recommended to everyone out there!
